RBI Gives Public More Time to Exchange ₹2000 Notes
Last Date To Exchange ₹ 2000 Notes At Banks Extended Till October 7: RBI
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the last date to exchange and deposit ₹2,000 notes till October 7, 2023. The previous deadline was September 30, 2023.
The RBI said in a statement that it has extended the deadline in view of the public demand and to facilitate the exchange of notes for those who have not been able to do so yet.
The RBI has also clarified that ₹2,000 notes will continue to be legal tender even after October 7, 2023. However, they can only be exchanged and deposited at bank branches till October 7, 2023.
After October 7, 2023, ₹2,000 notes can only be exchanged and deposited at RBI issue offices.
How to exchange ₹2,000 notes at banks
To exchange ₹2,000 notes at banks, you will need to carry your valid KYC documents, such as PAN card, Aadhaar card, or voter ID card. You will also need to fill out a form and provide your contact details.
The bank will then verify your KYC documents and exchange your ₹2,000 notes for notes of other denominations.
