Apple iPhone 15 Launch Date: Your Ultimate Comprehensive Guide on What to Expect and When
Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ Event Set to Unveil iPhone 15 Featuring USB-C and iOS 17
Mark your calendars for September 12, as Apple is gearing up for its highly-anticipated ‘Wonderlust’ event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. The tech giant is set to make major announcements, including the launch of the iPhone 15 series, iOS 17, the latest Apple Watch, and other exciting products. According to reports by The Verge, one of the most significant revelations expected at this event is the iPhone 15’s USB-C port, marking a departure from Apple’s traditional Lightning connector.
Moreover, Apple may also take the stage to disclose the release dates for iOS 17 and watchOS 10 during this event. (Also Read: Apple iPhone 15 Ultra Launching This Year Or In 2024? Find Out What the Latest Report Says)
While it’s speculated that all iPhone 15 models will feature the USB-C port, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the Pro and Pro Max versions will benefit from faster data transfer rates. These premium models will sport “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 ports, while the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will come with USB 2.0 ports. Some iPhone 15 models are expected to support up to 35W charging, promising faster charging speeds.
Additionally, supply chain analyst Ross Young predicted that all iPhone 15 models would include the Dynamic Island feature. The iPhone 15 lineup is also rumored to incorporate an ultra-wideband chip.
Furthermore, reports suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max may boast a titanium frame, slimmer bezels, and a more repairable aluminum chassis, reminiscent of the iPhone 14.
Under the hood, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max might feature a faster A17 chip based on the 3nm process, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are likely to retain the A16 chip introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro.
In addition to the iPhone 15, Apple is anticipated to unveil its latest smartwatch lineup, with fewer major changes expected. The premium Apple Watch Ultra is likely to maintain its 49mm size and feature a new darker titanium case. Meanwhile, the Watch Series 9 may introduce an updated S9 processor, according to reports.
But the iPhone 15 isn’t the only Apple device set to receive the USB-C treatment. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hints at the launch of a pair of AirPods Pro with USB-C during the event.
Kuo’s 2022 prediction also suggests the release of AirPods with a USB-C charging case this year. Beyond the new case, it remains uncertain whether Apple will make substantial changes to the AirPods themselves.
Lastly, while the iPhone 15 event promises excitement, Apple has more surprises in store for the future, including new Macs and iPads. These announcements are typically reserved for Apple’s October events, as noted in the report.
